Team India locked horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in Melbourne on 23 October in Melbourne. Fans were waiting eagerly to see these teams in action as they were kicking off their 20-20 World Cup campaign. After losing against Pakistan in the last 20-20 World Cup, fans were unhappy. It was Pakistan's first World Cup victory in any format against the Men in Blue.

Therefore, fans were waiting to see better performance from the team this time around. In the past few days, players were seen also playing some intent net sessions ahead of the clash. So, the stage was set for a great battle between these two cricketing giants. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and he elected to bowl first.

KL Rahul scored only four runs off eight balls against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup

For Pakistan, Rizwan and Babar Azam came out to open the inning. But, Arshdeep Singh was on a roll as he took the first two wickets within the first six overs. Then, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs off 34 balls, at a strike rate of 150. Then, Shan Masood scored 52* runs off 42 balls, including five fours. Otherwise, no batters scored significantly as Pakistan scored 159 runs in 20 overs by losing eight wickets. 

For India, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma came out to open. However, KL Rahul had a disappointing outing with the bat against Pakistan in that last World Cup match in 2021. So, eyes were on this star batter for better performance in this match. But, KL Rahul disappointed his fans once again as he got out after scoring only four runs off eight balls. Naseem Shah took the wicket as Pakistan managed an early breakthrough. Fans were not happy with that dismissal and they came out to social media platforms to share their views. Some fans also said that he did not deserve the place on the team.
