Sunil Gavaskar is one of the best batters to have played the game in the 70s & 80s. Gavaskar was also known for his fearless batting approach as he bravely faced the 'Four Horsemen' of the then mighty West Indian pace attack comprising Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Andy Roberts & Malcolm Marshall.

Be it on the cricket field or in the commentary box, Sunil Gavaskar has always found out ways to create positive vibes, and lately, he has proved that he is a champion outside the field as well.

A Twitter user named Mohammad Ather has posted a throwback video on the micro-blogging site of Sunil Gavaskar motivating his brother Zafar, who was diagnosed with lung cancer (4th stage). As per reports, the video dates back to January 2019 when Gavaskar had visited Mohammad Ather's residence in Hamilton, New Zealand. India had visited New Zealand for a limited-overs series and the 1983 World Cup winner was in the country on his commentary stint.

In the video, Sunil Gavaskar can be heard motivating Zafar by saying that the TATA Memorial Hospital in Mumbai has the best doctors and he will be well taken care of over there. "Par aap me dum hona chahiye. Aap dum dikhaiye", the batting legend added.

Mohammad Ather further added in the caption that the doctors had told that Zafar would only be able to survive for six months but his 'brave' brother fought for 18 months.

"Sunny Bhai’s motivational words certainly helped", he added.

As per reports, Zafar managed to survive for another year before passing away in January 2020.

After bidding adieu to the game in 1987, Sunil Gavaskar has continued to remain associated with cricket as commentator and broadcaster.
