'Doesn't deserve to be in the team' - Twitter trolls Rishabh Pant as he failed with the bat in the game against Pakistan

India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant had a bad day with the bat in the Super Four encounter against Pakistan on September 4. He came out to bat after Suryakumra Yadav was caught at square leg by Asif Ali with the scorecard reading 91/3 in 9.4 overs. The left-hander was expected to keep the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. However, for the first seven balls, he could score only four runs.

Pant hit his first boundary against Naseem Shah in the 13th over of India's innings. At this stage, the fans thought that he would go on to score big runs. However, the former India U19 player disappointed his fans in the next over. In the 14th over bowled by Shadab Khan, he bowled a google outside the leg-stump. Out of nowhere, Pant decided to play the reverse sweep.

As a result, he was caught at the backward point after scoring 14 off 12 balls. Notably, this was the first time he batted in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. He was selected in the playing to keep a left-hander in the batting order as a lot of players are right-handers.

India lost the reverse fixture against Pakistan

The Men In Blue had scored 181/7, thanks to Virat Kohli's 60 off 44 balls. Apart from him, the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma (28) and KL Rahul (28) got great starts but couldn't convert into big totals. In reply, Pakistan had a poor start as skipper Babar Azam lost his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi. Fakhar Zaman (15) also couldn't create any impact with the bat.

Green Brigade decided to promote all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz just like India did with Ravindra Jadeja last time around. The move to promote Jadeja to promote up the order had worked wonders for Rohit Sharma's men. The same thing happened with Babar Azam's men as they promote Nawaz up the order, who went on to score 42 off just 20 balls. The team won the game by five wickets and one ball to spare.
