Bangalore and Rajasthan met in the 39th encounter of the Indian T20 League 2022. Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Rajasthan did not have the start they were looking for. They lost Devdutt Padikkal (seven) in the second over of the game as Mohammed Siraj trapped him LBW. In an interesting move, Ravichandran Ashwin (23) walked in to bat next and struck a few clean shots. However, he could not hold on for long as Siraj took his wicket in the fourth over.

Jos Buttler (eight), who has been in red hot form, also departed soon in the fifth over. Josh Hazlewood got the wicket of Buttler, leaving Rajasthan reeling at 33-3. With Sanju Samson and Daryl Mitchell at the crease, the men in pink reached 43 runs in the powerplay. The duo knocked a few runs in the middle but Samson (27) fell to Wanindu Hasaranga in the 10th over after adding 35 runs in the partnership. Rajasthan were 68-4 at this point of time. Riyan Parag walked in the middle and looked in fine touch.

Along with Mitchell, he added 31 runs in the partnership before Hazlewood got Mitchell's (16) wicket in the 15th over at a team score of 99. At 102-6, after losing final recognized batter Shimron Hetmyer, Parag took  charge of the innings and hit some lusty blows. He was striking the ball well and reached his half-century with a six in the final over. The all-rounder scored 56 runs in 31 balls, with three fours and four sixes.

For Bangalore, Virat Kohli opened the batting along with Faf du Plessis. However, he once again walked back pretty early. Prasidh Krishna bowled the second over and got Kohli (nine) on the fourth ball. The men in red did not lose any more wickets in the powerplay and reached a score of 37. However, the seventh over produced two wickets for Rajasthan. Kuldeep Sen got the wickets of Du Plessis (23) and Glenn Maxwell (0) in the over, leaving Rajasthan tottering at 37-3

Bangalore then loset Patidar (16) and Suyash Prabhudesai (two) to Ashwin in the 10th and the 12th over, at a team score of 66. The Men in Red then received a body blow when Dinesh Karthik (six) was run out in the 13th over. Sen bowled the 17th over and got Hasaranga out (18). Bangalore needed 42 runs in the last three overs. However, with wickets tumbling, they were bowled out for a mere 115.
