The New Zealand bowler Trent Boult recently stated that playing in the Edgbaston Test against England would be good for practice. It would put him in good stead for the upcoming WTC final against India.

Boult is back to play after he was granted a short break to prepare for the inaugural WTC final. However, he would now play in the second Test against England after the quarantine rules in the UK were relaxed. Boult was undergoing a period of quarantine in England after returning from New Zealand.

He stated that he was not expecting to play in the Test against England. But everything fell in line and he could now get his rhythm through this match.

Boult further stated that a proper match would prepare him better than a practice session in nets. The Test would help in getting his game fitness back and put him in a good position.

Trent Boult is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead of him

Boult mentioned that after running to bowl almost 30 overs in the Test, his toes are a bit sore. But he was excited about the opportunities that he would get in the WTC final against India. He is also equally excited for the opportunities and practices he would get in the Test against England.

The bowlers of New Zealand have proved to be in sublime form in the England Test. Thereby Kane Williamson would have a strong bowling unit for the WTC final. In the Lord’s test, Tim Southee took 6 wickets for just 43 runs. Whereas Neil Wagner and Kyle Jamieson picked up 3 wickets each in the same test. In the Edgbaston Test, Matt Henry picked up 3 crucial wickets. Boult on the other handpicked 4 wickets in the 1st innings of the Edgbaston Test.

After the conclusion of the Edgbaston Test, the Kiwis would travel to Southampton for the World Test Championship final. In the inaugural championship final, India would clash with New Zealand from 18th June in a one-off Test.

According to experts, New Zealand would have a slight advantage over India in the WTC final. It is because New Zealand performed well in the Test against England and would play the final with good momentum. On the other hand, India would have to depend on nets practice and squad matches for preparation.
