The 14th match of the Women's T20 League (WTL) 2023 pitted Delhi versus Gujarat. The game will be played in Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium.

How did the thrilling match pan out?

The experienced Delhi captain Meg Lanning chose to bowl first. It was a good decision as Gujarat Giants had a sluggish start, but they did well to score a respectable total. Marizanne Kapp nipped Dunkley out the door, as she was dismissed early.

Wolvaardt and Harleen then used some shrewd batting to steady the ship. But, they passed up certain chances to push the scoring rate. Although Jonassen eliminated the latter with a good delivery, Ashleigh Gardner's arrival later marked a true change in momentum. She started off aggressively, and Wolvaardt picked up on it. The opener perfected her shifts and established her range.

They rapidly score in the middle overs, which enabled them to reenter the game. Gujarat's slog overs weren't awful either, and as a result, they posted nearly 150.

Meg Lanning was unable to make a significant score herself, as Delhi lost Shafali Verma in the first over. Jemimah sold Alice Capsey down the river even though she had potential, and the Indian batter was also outclassed mercilessly in the next over. Marizanne Kapp delivered a few heavy hits, but she too was smacked directly by a run out.

The Gujarat bowlers hunted in packs, and their top three bowlers each picked up two wickets, but Arundhati Reddy ultimately gave them a scare.She struck four boundaries and reduced the run rate to one per ball. Yet during her final over, Kim Garth managed to get the critical wicket, and Ashleigh Gardner afterwards returned to do the job.

The fact that Delhi was in trouble at 100/8 by the 15th over meant that this match had no reason to be so close. But in the end, Gujarat claimed a significant victory today, and Delhi's defeat was due to their subpar top-order performance.
