India pacer Prasidh Krishna has been drafted into the squad for the fourth Test against England. The Oval match is an important one for Virat Kohli-led India, who are coming from humbling innings and 76 runs loss at Headingley. The series is now tantalizingly poised 1-1 with two games yet to be played. Prasidh will now be with the Indian team due to management’s request. The 25-year-old, who was on the standby list has been training with the team right since the start of the United Kingdom tour.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee - based on the request of the team management - has added fast bowler Prasidh Krishna to India’s squad for the fourth Test. Prasidh, who was on the standby list has been training and traveling with Team India right from the start of the tour. The upcoming Test will be played at The Oval, London from 2nd September," a release from BCCI said.

Earmarked as a special talent, Prasidh made a mark for Karnataka with his ability to bend his back and generate an extra bit of bounce. His exploits for his state team earned him an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Although he has taken just 26 wickets in 31 IPL games for the franchise, he managed to impress the selectors, owing to his X- factor of hitting the deck hard.

Soon he made his ODI debut against England earlier this year and picked up six wickets in the three ODIs. Speaking about team India, skipper Virat Kohli had already said in the post-match press conference about how he is going to follow the template of playing five overseas bowlers and managing their workload in the remaining two Tests.
