The Ashes 2023

Australia happened to draw the first blood in the Ashes 2023 against England with a thrilling 2-wicket win in the first Ashes 2023 Test. Skipper Pat Cummins guided the Aussies to victory with brilliant performances with the bat and the ball. Cummins scored unbeaten 44 runs during the second-innings run chase of the target of 281 runs.

Following the defeat at the Edgbaston Test, the ‘Bazball’ theory of England skipper Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum also faced flak in the cricketing world. A lot of former cricketers came up very hard on the approach of England management in the first Test as skipper Stokes declared the innings on the very first day of the match.

Meanwhile, the England batter Zak Crawley has come up with a very blunt statement ahead of the second Test of the Ashes 2023 against Australia at the Lord’s. He went on to predict the win of England and that too with a very unexpected margin.

"I think we'll win . I think the pitch will suit us a bit more so I think we'll win by, I don't know, 150 runs?” said Crawley to Times Radio.

Here's what England batter Zak Crawley said further

“We're not about results. We're not about winning or losing, we're about entertainment. That's why we took better than other losses perhaps because it was great for the game. "Of course, we're there to win and it helps our brand and what we're trying to do. If we win, we get more traction. But I don't think we've lost anything this week other than a game of cricket," he added later.

Apart from Crawley, the legendary England pacer James Anderson also spoke in a warning tone for Australia ahead of the all-important Lord’s Test of the Ashes 2023.

"Just because we're 1-0 down I don't think we'll try anything different. I think we showed enough last week to show we can win the next four if we keep playing like that and iron a few things out. We'll go exactly the same,” said Anderson.
