World Test Championship

Team India’s win over England in the first two days of the third Test has taken the hosts to the top of the World Test Championship points table. The Indian team handed England a 10-wicket defeat in the pink-ball Test. India can go through to the final with either a win or a draw in the fourth Test. If England wins the fourth Test, it will be Australia playing the finals against New Zealand.

This was only the 2nd-ever day-night Test in India, and it became the shortest completed match since 1935. Both teams bowled only 140.2 overs. England had to win the four-match series 3-1 to play the WTC final. The team has now 64.1 percentage points on the points table, while India is leading the table with 71 percentage points. New Zealand already sealed their spot in the final with 70 percentage points.

Axar Patel grabs the Man of the Match award

On Day Two of the Motera Test, England’s batting collapsed again. Team India’s victory target was set at 49. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took just 7.4 overs to accomplish a 10-wicket victory and a 2-1 series lead.

Indian spinners picked up 19 wickets in the entire game. After his six scalps in the first innings, Axar Patel bagged 5/32 in the second innings. He got the Man of the Match award for his exceptional performance with the ball. Ravichandran Ashwin returned with a seven-wicket haul on his way to 400 Test dismissals. Washington Sundar was given an over, and he dismissed James Anderson in his fourth ball.

Both teams will face each other in the game's shortest format. The five-match T20 series will be played in Ahmedabad, starting from March 12.
