The England team has announced its squad for the white-ball series against India. Jos Buttler is all set to take on the full-time captaincy role for the first time. Eoin Morgan recently announced his retirement from the highest level of the game, and wicketkeeper-batter succeded him.
"England Men's selection panel have named squads for the Vitality IT20 series versus India starting on 7 July at the Ageas Bowl and the Royal London ODIs against India starting later this month," read the English and Wales Cricket Board's statement.
Richard Gleeson, who has been doing well in domestic cricket for some time now, has been called in to play for the T20I series. Sam Curran will also be making his comeback to the T20I side after recovering from a long injury. He played the ODI series against the Netherlands, but has not played a T20I match since June 2021.
Some of the players like Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes, who are a part of the Test match, will be unavailable for the T20I series. They will, however, return to the team for the three-match ODI series.
Meanwhile, the ODI team has seen a few changes from their last series against the Netherlands. Joe Root will make a comeback to the ODI team for the series. He has not played an ODI game since July 2021. The former English Test captain has been in sublime form in recent times. He will be an important asset to the team.
The Indian team also announced their squad for the white-ball series. Rohit Sharma will return to the team as the captain in all the matches.
