In the 18th match of the Hundred 2022, Manchester Originals beat Southern Brave by a massive difference of 68 runs. A powerful batting display followed by a brilliant bowling effort, ensured that they secured the easy win. With this win, the Originals took their tally to two wins this season.

Batting first, the Originals had a great start with captain Jos Buttler and Philip Salt putting on a great opening stand. The duo added 64 runs in just 41 balls before losing Salt (38) to Jake Lintott. After the team lost another quick wicket, Andre Russell and Buttler led the way to a respectable total.

Each played an attacking game and added a 51 runs partnership. The team skipper was dismissed on 68 runs in 42 balls, while Russell remained not out on 64 runs in just 23 balls. In the first innings, the two aided the team in reaching a total of 188/3. For the Southern Brave, only Lintott and Michael Hogan were the only two wicket-takers with one wicket each.

The James Vince-led side needed a good start while chasing a mammoth of a total, which they did to some extent. Vince and Quinton de Kock added 36 runs in 17 balls to the first-wicket partnership before the bowlers wreaked havoc on their batting lineup. The following 19 balls saw the Brave lose four wickets.

Despite their best efforts, Tim David and George Garton were only able to add 31 runs for the sixth-wicket stand. The bowlers from the Originals rose to the top once more thanks to their consistent wicket-taking. In the end, the Southern Brave were all-out for a score of 120 in 84 balls, handing Originals a 68-run win.

Paul Walter was the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 20/3 in his 15 balls. Meanwhile, Tristan Stubbs and Matthew Parkinson took two wickets each, while Sean Abbott, Tom Hartley, and Andre Russell all took one.

Manchester Originals currently stands fifth with two wins in five games. Southern Brave, on the other hand, stands seventh with one win in five games.
