Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria believes that a second-string Indian unit is good enough to beat a full-strength Pakistan team. A young and new-look India is currently playing an ODI series in Sri Lanka and have outplayed the hosts in the first two games. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar have stepped up to the occasion, helping India claim an emphatic series win.

Also, one of the biggest positives on the tour for India has been the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep especially has looked a different bowler altogether. Kaneria further lauded Rahul Dravid for grooming the youngsters.

“The way this Indian team is performing, the way Rahul Dravid has worked with the Indian team he deserves all the praise. The way he has motivated Kuldeep Yadav, even this India B team can certainly beat Pakistan,” Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube Channel.

After the ODIs, the Men in Blue will take on the hosts in three T20Is as well. India have a pretty settled core and the T20 World Cup squad is almost fixed. However, there are a couple of spots available. The Sri Lanka series and the upcoming second leg of IPL will be the final opportunity for the players to make a case for themselves. Kaneria feels that playing the IPL in UAE is a massive advantage to India. He further predicted an India-West Indies T20 World Cup final.

“India is not playing any limited over cricket before the T20 World Cup but playing IPL will keep them in good stead. I think it will be India vs West Indies in the final,” Danish Kaneria concluded.
