Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting has come with a piece of advice for Australia while he went on to question the aggressive approach of England in the ongoing Ashes 2023. Notably, the Aussies completely dominated the English side on the third day of the ongoing second Ashes 2023 Test at the Lord’s in London.

Australia bundled up England in the first innings only on the score of 325 runs after scalping their 6 wickets in the morning session after conceding just 47 runs. This horrific collapse of the English side didn’t go down well with a few former greats of the team like Geoffrey Boycott and former skipper Michael Vaughan.

Coming back to Ponting’s advice for Australia, he said that being Australia, the focus should be on posting a massive total, which will surely trouble England, no matter how hard the approach they will come out with.

“Everything we hear from England is, that they are not going to be happy with a draw. They're going to do everything to try and win the game. Well, If I'm Australia, I'm batting as long as I can and setting the most ridiculous total. They actually said they will try to win. I will make it as unachievable as possible, let them go as hard as they can,” said Ponting during his commentary stint on Sky Sports.

Australia is in a commanding position to double their lead in the Ashes 2023

Speaking of the action of the match after three days, the visitors had scored 130 runs for the loss of two wickets at the end of the third day’s play. The veteran opener Usman Khawaja was there in the middle on the individual score of 58 runs alongside first innings’ centurion star Steve Smith (6 runs) at the time of stumps.

Apart from this, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne got dismissed on the individual scores of 25 and 30 runs, respectively. James Anderson and Josh Tongue scalped one wicket each for England in the second innings.

Notably, the Aussies are already leading the five-match Ashes 2023 by a margin of 1-0 and they are looking in a very good position to double it to 2-0.
