Faf du Plessis compares this Bangalore player with MS Dhoni

Bangalore beat Kolkata in a low-scoring thriller on Thursday and won their first game of the Indian T20 league 2022. The match was topsy-turvy, to say the least, with both the teams showcasing some excellent performances. While both teams were superb with the ball, they were equally mediocre with the bat.

Things looked bleak for Bangalore towards the 17th over as Tim Southee took two wickets in the over. However, Dinesh Karthik kept his calm as he saw his side home. With seven to get in the final over, he scored it with four balls to spare.

Thus, the keeper-batter has performed the role of a finisher in both the games of this edition. His skipper Faf du Plessis was mighty impressed with him. As a matter of fact, he drew parallels between Karthik and MS Dhoni and felt that the Tamil Nadu player is as cool as the Indian legend.

"In an ideal world, we would've liked to have won more convincingly but a win is a win. DK's experience helped in the end, cool-calm, runs weren't never really too far away. DK is as close as it gets to MS Dhoni when it comes to being ice-cool," said Faf du Plessis after the completion of the match.

The Proteas batter then drew light on the game. He stated that they tried to be positive while chasing a small total. Faf also said that they would like to be more convincing in coming games.

"Very happy (with the win). Close small margins games are very important at the start. Chasing a small score, we just tried to be positive and not leave it late but very good bowling from their (Kolkata) seamers. The ball swung a little more earlier but today there was seam and bounce. Two three days ago, it was 200 and today it was 130. We would like to be more convincing. Just the experience. The runs were never a problem. We just needed to have wickets in hand," he added.
