The Men in Blue locked horns with Pakistan in Melbourne on 23 October 2022 in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup. It was a much-awaited clash as fans were waiting to see a better performance from team India than last year. India were coming off after two T20I series win over Australia and South Africa respectively.
On the other hand, Pakistan were coming off after a T20I tri-series victory in New Zealand. So, the stage was set for a great battle between these two great cricketing giants. Speaking about the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first.
One Pakistani fan shared a fake tweet in the name of Nasser Hussain after the match at MCG
For Pakistan, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs off 34 balls, including two fours and four sixes. He scored those runs at an economy of 150. Along with him, Shan Masood also scored 52* runs off 42 balls, including five fours. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya starred with three wickets each. Still, Pakistan managed to score 159 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Indian batters also felt the heat against the Pakistani bowlers. They were struggling at 31 runs by losing four wickets at the top.
Then, Hardik Pandya scored vital 40 runs off 37 balls. But, it was Virat Kohli who stood tall and scored 82* runs off 53 balls, at a strike rate of 154.71. He hit six fours and four sixes throughout his innings. These knocks ensured India’s victory over Pakistan by four wickets. But, a controversial moment happened when the umpire gave a no-ball decision in the last over. After the match, Pakistani fans started crying by saying that it was not a no-ball.
Even, a Pakistani fan tweeted that the former England skipper, Nasser Hussain said: “The umpires made some weird decision in favour of India today but maybe we should keep quiet and not upset the Governing Body of Cricket and the Indian Cricket Board.” But, then, Nasser Hussain replied: “Probably best if you can delete this please .. it’s fake news and a fake quote and definitely not what a great game of cricket like todays deserves !! Thanks.” Thus, it got confirmed that the Pakistani fan spread the fake news in the name of that Cricketer. After that, Indian fans started to slam the country for such a low-class action.
