Playing just his second game of the 15th edition of the Indian T20 LeagueDavid Warner looked in great touch. Taking on the Kolkata bowlers from the start of the innings, he was able to get to his first half-century of the season. Warner along with Prithvi Shaw gave Delhi a blazing start as the pair smacked bowlers to all corners.

The two helped Delhi reach a score of 68 runs in the powerplay without losing their wickets. Kolkata's plans were disrupted as they used seven bowlers within the first eight overs of the game. Shaw was dismissed for a score of 51 runs in 29 balls in the 9th over, but Warner continued to smash the bowlers.

The 35-year old reached his half-century with a six. He ended his innings, scoring 61 runs in 45 balls with the help of six boundaries and two sixes. Umesh Yadav took his wicket as a lofted shot landed in Ajinkya Rahane's hands.

Twitter exploded as soon as Warner reach the 50 run mark. Many users took this opportunity to troll the Hyderabad franchise for letting him go. Notably, Warner and the Hyderabad franchise ended on poor terms as he was let go after the 2021 season after massive controversy. Delhi then purchased him at the mega auction for a price of 6.25 crores.

In his first match of the season, David Warner had a poor start as he could just get four runs against Lucknow. His half-century in the second match was very important as Delhi reached a score of 215 in the first innings.
