Fans wish for Gautam Gambhir to return to Kolkata; Images surface on internet

Lucknow is currently taking on Bangalore in the eliminator of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While the match was delayed due to bad weather conditions, fans looked energetic in the stands with the return of Gautam Gambhir to Kolkata. Fans were spotted holding the banners that said, "Bring Back GG to KKR."

Gambhir, now the team mentor of Lucknow, was a part of the Kolkata team between 2011 and 2018. The men in purple won two Indian T20 League titles under his leadership, in 2012 and 2014. He is the most successful captain to have led the Kolkata team. Fans of the team still hold him in high regard for the job he accomplished as the captain. On Twitter, photographs of supporters carrying the banner have surfaced.

In the meantime, bad weather conditions in Kolkata delayed the start of the game between Bangalore and Lucknow. The toss was delayed by 55 minutes, and the game began at 8:10 p.m. (IST). Lucknow won the toss and put in Bangalore to bat first. The league debutants had a great start with the ball. Mohsin Khan was at the top of his game as he got a wicket in the first over of the match. He got rid of the opposition captain Faf du Plessis with a delivery that had a slight outward movement.

Neither team wants to be on the losing end of this match since the loser would be eliminated from the competition. The side that wins the match advances to the second qualifier against Rajasthan. The tournament's second qualifier and final will take place on May 27th and 29th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad respectively.

The Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat team became the first team to reach the final, as they beat Rajasthan in the first qualifier. The tournament will see a different winner, apart from Mumbai and Chennai, for the first time since the 2016 season.
