The F1 star Felipe Massa has left the Formula 1 world in shock with his recent statements on the 2008 F1 race where he couldn’t win the title. The competition was held in Brazil only where Hamilton ended up winning the title in a dramatic finish. Massa was very disappointed at the end of the race as he couldn’t finish on the podium to achieve his career’s first-ever and only F1 title.

Recently, a journalist asked Bernie Ecclestone regarding the infamous ‘Crashgate’ incident during another Grand Prix of the season held in Singapore. The competition witnessed Nelson Piquet helping Renault’s Fernando Alonso to win the race; in this race, Lewis Hamilton finished on the podium in third position whereas Massa finished the race in the 13th spot.

Meanwhile, Ecclestone also added that Massa might look ahead and go for legal action on the result of that championship. This statement has come up like a bombshell among the F1 experts and fans of the game as well.

“Back then, there was a rule that a world championship classification after the FIA awards ceremony at the end of the year was untouchable, so Hamilton was presented with the trophy and everything was fine,” said Ecclestone to F1 insider.

“We had enough information in time to investigate the matter. According to the statutes, we should have canceled the race in Singapore under these conditions,” he added later.

Here's what Felipe Massa responded

Subsequently, Massa also responded to the same with a statement and he didn’t look happy with this revelation from Ecclestone.

“There is a rule that says that when a championship is decided, from the moment the driver receives the champion's trophy, things can no longer be changed, even if it has been proven a theft," said Massa to Motorsport.com.

“This is very sad, to know the result of this race was supposed to be canceled and I would have a title. In the end, I was the one who lost the most with this result. So, we are going after it to understand all this,” he added later.
