The series takes us back to the beginning of India's talismanic captain, Sunil Chhetri. This behind-the-scenes look uncovers untold stories about the man who would be captain. From his precocious teenage angst to the early embers of his long romance with his future wife, everything led up to his India debut at the age of 20. Apart from the man himself, close associates, loved ones, and footballing colleagues help tell the story.
From being a middle-class kid to becoming an Indian football legend, Chhetri has come a long way. The Indian football captain is the country's leading goalscorer (84 in 131 games) and ranks third in international football among current players. He is only one goal behind Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo (117 goals) and Argentina's Lionel Messi (90).
Chhetri, widely regarded as the most prolific player in Indian football history, has long been regarded as the invincible warrior of Indian football. However, Chettri, who comes from a low-income family, was denied certain luxuries as a child.
He also chose football over cricket because it was a less expensive sport. Chhetri aspired to be the next Sachin Tendulkar, but a lack of funds prevented him from fulfilling his ambition.
