In what comes as a major decision as far as the fans are concerned, FIFA organizers have allowed for the sale of alcohol inside the stadiums. Notably, just like in any other Muslim-majority nation, alcohol is frowned upon in Qatar. However, even after allowing the beverage for the fans, there have been some rules laid down for the sale and consumption.
Fans would be able to buy the drink only during the evenings. Also, they will get alcohol during the games and not before and after the games. The fans will get only a certain brand of beer as the beverage brand is one of the sponsors of the tournament.
It has been the exclusive World Cup beer brand since 1986. Its parent company renewed its deal through 2022 with FIFA in a 2011 signing after Qatar was confirmed as host. Meanwhile, FIFA has said that the spectators will get the alcohol before the kick and after the final whistle. They added that the fans can also access the non-alcoholic drinks of the same brand
"within the stadium perimeter prior to kickoff and after the final whistle."
"Inside the stadium bowl ticket holders will have access to non-alcoholic Budweiser Zero," soccer's world body said. "At the FIFA Fan Festival, Budweiser will be available to purchase from 6.30 p.m.
