On 21 November 2022, fans were excited to see three matches in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar. On the opening day, host nation Qatar lost against Ecuador with a scoreline of 2-0. It was a Group A encounter. On Day 2, the other two teams of Group A, Senegal, and the Netherlands took on each other in Al Thumama Stadium.
Along with them, all four teams of Group B were in action on the same day. England took on Iran in Khalifa International Stadium. On the other hand, the USA locked horns with Wales in Al Rayyan Stadium. However, the teams did not disappoint their fans as no game ended as goalless.

Fans were waiting to see how England begin their World Cup campaign. But, they did it in some style as they thrashed Iran with a scoreline of 6-2. For England, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka (Two Goals), Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Jack Grealish were the scores. While for Iran, Mehdi Taremi scored a brace. With this win, England got three points with a huge goal difference (+4) in their World Cup opener.
Senegal vs Netherlands (0-2)
It was the second game of Day 2. However, fans were quite surprised to not see Memphis Depay in the playing XI of the Dutch. But, it did not bother them as they sealed a comfortable victory of 2-0 over Senegal. Youngster Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 84th minute while Davy Klaassen made it 2-0 in the (90+9’) minute.
USA vs Wales (1-1)
The USA looked good while attacking since the kick-off of that match. As a result, they opened the scoring in the 36th minute, courtesy of Timothy Weah. But, they failed to hold the lead as Wales equalized in the 82nd minute. Wales’ talisman, Gareth Bale scored the goal from a penalty. Thus, both teams settled for a draw and got one point each from the game.
