The FIFA World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar is witnessing one of the greatest matches in history and the match between Saudi Arabia and Argentina remains to be one of the most talked about match of the multinational tournament.

As things stand, Ecuador and Senegal squared off against each other in the Group A match on November 29, Sunday and Senegal managed to defeat the former with a scoreline of 1-2, despite a great fightback from Ecuador in the second half.

To add more, in the first half, Ismaïla Sarr capitalized on a penalty in the 44th minute and produced the lead for the team. However, when everyone predicted an easy win for Senegal, Ecuador’s Moisés Caicedo played the spoilsport and matched the lead in the 67th minute.

Fans were hoping for a winner, as a draw could make things complicated for all the other three times barring Qatar which were playing on the day. However, Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly bounced back in the 70th minute and put the team on the front foot, by taking a 1-2 lead. Eventually, Senegal cemented their place in the Round of 16 stage and joined Netherlands from the group, after a hard-fought win.

Netherlands continue FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign

Netherlands and ousted hosts Qatar, locked horns in the other Group A match on Tuesday and it was the former who managed to clinch an emphatic win with a scoreline of 2-0. The Oranje completely outclassed their opponents on the day and looked dominating right from the start of the whistle.

To add more, it was Cody Gakpo who produced the initial goal for the Oranje, shifting the momentum towards his team in the deciding game. While fans backed Qatar to play for pride and clinch a win, Gakpo’s teammate Frenkie de Jong bounced back in the second half and doubled the lead as he scored a stupendous goal in the 49th minute.

On the back of stupendous efforts from both the Netherlands stars, the Oranje eventually defeated Qatar and gained momentum ahead of the much-anticipated Round of 16 stage.
