Tunisia took on Australia in the ongoing FIFA World Cup on 26 November 2022. It was a Group D encounter which took place in Al Janoub Stadium. However, Tunisia impressed everyone by settling for a goalless draw with Denmark in their World Cup opener. On the other hand, defending champions France thrashed the Aussies by 4-1.

So, Australia were looking to register their first win in this tournament. While Tunisia were looking to avoid any defeat again after their impressive performance against Denmark. So, the stage was set for a good battle between these sides. Australia are currently the 38th-ranked team in the world. But, Tunisia’s global ranking is 30 in the world.

Speaking of the match, Australia took an early lead in the clash in the 23rd minute. Craig Goodwin put a cross from the left flank. But, it got deflected and fell properly for Mitchell Duke as he headed the ball into the goal. But, in the 41st minute, Tunisia had a huge chance to equalize.

Mohamed Drager fired a shot at the goal. But, Australian defender Harry Souttar came up with a vital block to save that goal. Then, Tunisia created many chances but failed to convert those. Thus, the first half of the game ended 1-0 as Australia were leading. In the second half, Tunisia started to push for an equalizer. But, the Australian defense was looking solid to prevent any goal.

However, in the 88th minute of the game, Tunisia’s Wahbi Khazri got a good chance as he received a beautiful pass from his teammate, Wajdi Kechrida. But, he failed to score that goal as the ball straight went into the Australian goalkeeper, Mathew Ryan’s hand. In the remaining minutes of the game, the Aussie defense kept their nerves steel and hold out for that 1-0 lead. With this win, Australia rose up to the second spot with three points in two games.
