On 27 November 2022, Croatia took on Canada in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. It was a Group F clash in Khalifa International Stadium. Croatia failed to win their tournament opener against Morocco. They managed a goalless draw only. On the other hand, Canada also had a disappointing start after a 1-0 loss against Belgium. 

So, both teams were looking for a win in this match. However, before this clash, Morocco created history by defeating the world’s second-ranked team, Belgium by 2-0. So, after that massive result, it was a great chance for both teams to strengthen their position. Big-name players Luka Modric and Alphonso Davies were in action in this clash.   

Croatia thrashed Canada 4-1 in FIFA World Cup 2022

Speaking of the match, Croatia failed to sustain the attacking pressure from Canada since the kick-off. Thus, Canada managed to take an early lead in the second minute only. Alphonso Davies managed to score Canada’s first-ever World Cup goal with a thumping header. It also became the fastest goal scored by any team in this ongoing tournament. Tajon Buchanan provided the assist because of that beautifully whipped cross. Then, Croatia scored an equalizer in the 26th minute.

But, the referee ruled out Andrej Kramaric’s goal as an offside. His teammate, Marco Livaja failed to remain in an onside position. But, in the 36th minute, Andrej Kramaric managed to score the equalizer for Croatia. Ivan Perisic came up with an assist. Then, in the 44th minute, Marco Livaja doubled the lead for Croatia. Josip Juranovic provided the assist in that goal. After that, Croatia came up with many more attacks but they failed to convert those chances. Thus, the first half ended 2-1.

In the second half, Croatia were looking for more goals. In the 54th minute, Canada goalkeeper, Milan Borjan denied Kramaric from scoring a brace in this match. But, in the 70th minute, Kramaric managed to complete his brace as Perisic came up with another assist. Then, Lovro Majer added another goal in the 90+4' minute and Croatia crushed out Canada of this World Cup.
