FIFA World Cup 2022, Match 28, Group E: Spain and Germany settle for 1-1 draw, Morata and Fullkrug scores

Germany suffered a shocking loss against Japan in their FIFA World Cup opener. Japan managed to defeat them by 2-1. After such a humiliating loss, fans were not happy. So, on 28 November 2022, Germany faced Spain in the second match. However, Spain were coming off after a huge win of 7-0 over Costa Rica.

So, a huge test was waiting for the German side. It was a Group E clash in Al Bayt Stadium. Spain were looking for a second straight win to seal their place for the next round. On the other hand, Germany were looking for a win in this do-or-die clash at any cost. So, all eyes were on both these teams.   

Spain vs Germany ended 1-1 in FIFA World Cup 2022

Speaking of the match, Spain looked more clinical than Germany since the kick-off. In the sixth minute only, Spanish players managed to produce a beautiful ball for Dani Almo. He hit that ball from outside of the box. But, Manuel Neuer had enough touch to the ball to send it to the crossbar. Then, Jordi Alba had a shot from the distance in the 22nd Minute. But, it ended quite wide from the goal.

Germany had a glimpse of a goal in the 24th minute. Gnabry tried to curl the ball into the goal with his left foot. But, his effort was also well out of the target. Antonio Ruediger opened the scoring for Germany in the 40th minute. But, VAR ruled out that goal by calling it an offside. However, the first half ended 0-0. In the second half, Spain started the game with more control than Germany. 

But, in the 56th minute, Kimmich had a shot but Spain’s Unai Simon made a full-stretched save. Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for Spain in the 62nd minute. Jordi Alba provide a beautiful cross into the box and Morata made justice to it. But, Germany showed spirit as they equalized in the 83rd minute. Niclas Fullkrug scored the goal while Jamal Musiala provided the assist. Then, both teams hold their nerves as the match ended at 1-1.
