The speculations were fueled after Gambhir met the KKR owner and the veteran Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan. He also praised SRK’s stature in Bollywood, alongside his current legendary stature in Bollywood stature.

Notably, Gautam Gambhir was in the KKR colours for a long period of six years in seven editions, from 2011 to 2017. In this period, he played 108 matches for KKR and scored 3035 runs with an average of 31.61, including 27 half-centuries. He also led KKR to two IPL titles under his captaincy which was one of the major reasons for his close associations with the Knight Riders.
