The BCCI has announced the list of players to go under the hammer in the upcoming Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction. A total of 1214 players have registered their names, including 896 Indians and 318 overseas players. 30 players from England are up for grabs.
The teams will now be looking to strategies and build balanced combinations for their sides. The list of players is huge, which makes the score for making a good team even higher.
Players from England have always been a huge part of the tournament, but only 2 of these players were retained by teams. While some English players pulled out of this season, 30 players still remain in the pool. Here are five players who can make it big in the mega auctions:
Jonny Bairstow
Bairstow is an explosive batter, who bats with consistency. He was a major part of the Hyderabad side before he was released. He gave them some great wins and performances, including his 200-runs opening partnership with David Warner. His International form was not the best recently, but it has started to change gradually.
Teams that require an explosive opener, who can also stabilize the innings when needed, will go for him in the auction. Bangalore or Mumbai could have a bidding war for him.
Dawid Malan
Malan, the top-ranked T20 player will be a hot item in the auctions. He has stayed at the top of the rankings consistently. The number three and four positions that he usually plays on can be tricky at times in the shortest format, but he has done well to make the most of it.
All teams are always in search of a good player at that position, who can anchor the innings or play an attacking game, according to the situation. Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Hyderabad can target him in the auctions.
Jason Roy
Jason Roy is another player from the Sunrisers' camp, who did well but had to be let go. In the limited chances that he got in the last season, he was vital. He scored constant runs at high strike rates to give his team good starts.
Just like Bairstow, he too can give explosive starts and play a stabilized game. Any team that needs an opener in their side will target him in the auction.
Liam Livingstone
Some might not consider Liam Livingstone as a genuine all-rounder, but he certainly has the skills to score runs and get big wickets. His hitting in the middle is always useful, and his orthodox spin always comes in handy.
A good all-rounder can make or break the balance of the team, and Livingstone can surely provide a good balance. Mumbai Indians could target him as the replacement for Krunal Pandya, who has been a match-winner for them in the past.
Chris Jordan
Jordan is a bowler who can hit the deck hard with his seam bowling, plus his skills in the outfield are an added advantage. He can be used as a bowler who restricts the opposition to score a lot of runs.
The teams that did not retain any fast bowlers probably will try to buy him in the auctions. Considering the style of his bowling, Chennai can look to buy him in the auction, as he can compliment their playing style.
