After the completion of the first ODI at Sydney, the Men in Yellow capture their first win with 66-runs. It is the fourth successive ODI defeat for India since 2016.

Hundreds from Aaron Finch and Steve Smith took the hosts to a mighty total of 374/6. David Warner and Glenn Maxwell also had a valuable contribution with the bat.

The Indian team has successfully chased over 300 totals only thrice in ODI cricket against Australia. If they managed to pull off a miracle in this game, it would have been their highest-ever chase against the Aussies.

Let's take a look at the five highest successful run-chases for India against Australia in ODI:

5. India vs Australia, 2017 (293)

The 3rd ODI of Australia's tour of India in 2017 saw the visitors post an impressive total of 293/6. India led the series by 3-0 and defeated the visitors comprehensively by five wickets in the 3rd ODI in Indore.

Aaron Finch and Steve Smith inflicted a decent total but could not grab the win for their side. In response, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma got off to a great start and dented up a 139-run opening partnership.

With just 15 overs left, Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav were dismissed in quick succession. But once again Hardik Pandya took the Men in Blue over the line in the 48th over. He finished on an unbeaten 78 runs off 72 balls and claimed the Man of the Match award.

4. India vs Australia, 2019 (299)

The 2018-19 India's tour of Australia witnessed the men in blue win a Test series for the first time. During the ODI series, team India pulled off their second-highest run-chase against the hosts, Australia.

Shaun Marsh's century took Australia to a score of 298/9, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami taking seven wickets. India got over the line in the final over with four balls remaining. Kohli was the Man of the Match for his century, and MS Dhoni finished the innings on an unbeaten 55.

3. India vs Australia, 2016 (331)

India vs Australia, the 5th ODI match in 2016 at the SCG was an electrifying battle. With the centuries of Mitchell Marsh and David Warner, Australia posted a decent total of 330/7. To respond to this, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got India off to a spectacular start.

Dhawan scored 78 off just 56 balls before leaving the crease in the 19th over. But Rohit along with Manish Pandey played a great inning. The two right-handed batsmen scored 99 and 104* respectively. Pandey and MS Dhoni stayed calm at the end of the match and won the game.

2. India vs Australia, 2013 (351)

Nagpur has always seen some high-scoring matches over the years. The 5th ODI of Australia's tour of India was one such exciting encounter. Centuries from Shane Watson and captain George Bailey helped them post a commanding total of 350/6. India once again needed their top order to perform at their best.

Dhawan scored 100 and Rohit managed a total of 79 runs. Skipper Kohli took India over the line with an unbeaten 115. For his splendid performance, Virat Kohli was the Man of the Match.

1. India vs Australia, 2013 (360)

The second match of the same tour saw India pull off their highest successful run-chase against Australia in Jaipur. Five batsmen including Phil Hughes, Aaron Finch, Shane Watson, George Bailey, and Glenn Maxwell scored the fifties and posted 359/5.

India's top three batting order was too good for the Kangaroos once again. Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 141, and Shikhar Dhawan posted 95 runs. On the other hand, Kohli’s century got over the line with an easy victory for the men in blue.
