The Indian T20 League is in its 15th year and has witnessed a lot of records being made and broken. Talking about the batting records, the highest and lowest team total record is set by the same team. The highest team aggregate is 263, scored by Bangalore in 2013. Four years later, the same team was all-out for 49, the lowest total for a team in the history of the league.

Talking about the highest run-getters, players have scored more than 500-600 runs over the years every year. Only twice, the 700-run mark has been breached, once by Chris Gayle and Michael Hussey. This barrier was broken by Virat Kohli and David Warner in 2016. However, there are a few records that seem almost impossible to break in the upcoming years. In this listicle, we will discuss five records that look almost impossible to break.

List of five records

1. Chris Gayle’s highest individual score – 175

Chris Gayle, also known as Universe Boss, was one of the most destructive batters in the world. Last year, he retired from the international game and won't be participating in this year's ITL. In 2013, the left-hander amassed 175 not out from 66 balls while playing for Bangalore against now-defunct Pune. In that innings, he also hit the fastest hundred in just 30 balls. This record is unlikely to be broken with bowlers getting smarter with the evolution of T20 cricket.

2. Chris Gayle most sixes in the ITL- 357

The Jamaica-born player has played for Kolkata, Bangalore, and Punjab from 2008 to 2021. In the 141 innings played for these teams, the two-time 20-20 World Cup winner has hit 357 sixes. The second highest is 251 sixes, hit by now retired AB De Villiers. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma has hit 227 sixes, playing for Mumbai and Hyderabad. It is highly unlikely that he will reach the record as he is 34 years old and is likely to retire before 2024.

3. Virat Kohli’s most runs in a single season – 973 runs in 2016

The then skipper of Bangalore was in the ridiculous form in 2016.  Coming into the 2016 season, he had won the Player Of The Series in the 20-20 World Cup. The right-hander not just hit 973 runs in the season but also hit four hundreds which is not been broken by the man in question himself.

4. MS Dhoni most number of ITL finals as captain – 9

To play this amount of ITL finals, a player needs to emulate the leadership skills of MS Dhoni and a franchise such as Chennai, which believes in stability. Franchise owners are mostly result oriented as we have witnessed with Punjab and Bangalore. Punjab changes their skipper and coaches after every two seasons. However, talking about Bangalore, they have shown that they are showing more faith in the team management and captain in the last few years with Virat Kohli being the only skipper to lead the team for the longest period.

5. Kolkata longest winning streak of 10 matches

Winning back to back games in the any form of the game is no joke. Specially, not in the shortest format with any team beating the other on their given day. Kolkata won 10 back to back games in 2014 including the final. Since then, no team has come close to the record and is unlikely that the record is broken.
