The Big Bash League 2022 just got done, but there is still a lot of T20 action to come ahead. The IPL mega auctions are just around the corner, and the teams are set with their targeted players. Bangalore will be hosting the mega event on the 12th and the 13th of February.
The Big Bash League is responsible for giving the world some great players every year. This time too, some players were at the top of their game. Here is a list of players that did well in the BBL and can go big in the IPL mega auctions as well.
Ben McDermott
Ben McDermott created history this year by becoming the first-ever player to score consecutive hundreds in the BBL. Playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, he scored 577 runs in 13 matches at an average of 48, including two centuries and three half-centuries. He had a strike rate of over 150. On top of all this, he can keep wickets as well.
A player who bats with a higher strike rate is a must in any team. Punjab Kings or the new Ahmedabad franchise can look to buy him in the auctions as he fits in well with both teams.
Hayden Kerr
Kerr has been a great find for the Sydney Sixers this season, and he helped them get into the finals. He scored 98 not out to beat Sydney Thunders in the Challenger of the BBL. The all-rounder ended up being the second-highest wicket-taker this season.
He could well attract big bids in the IPL auctions, as the all-rounder certainly can be a value-for-money player for any team. Teams that require a good option of medium-paced all-rounder can buy him in the auctions.
Peter Siddle
The 37-year old Peter Siddle ended up taking the most number of wickets this season when everyone least expected it. He picked up 30 wickets in the 17 matches that he played and bowled at an economy of 8.3.
He too might not go for huge sums of money, but teams surely can look to buy him as their experienced bowler. Chennai Super Kings, who respect experience a lot, can buy him.
Jason Sangha
2022 became the breakthrough year for the 22-year old Jason Sangha. After serving drinks for two seasons, Sangha found himself as the stand-in captain of the Sydney Thunders. He scored 445 runs in 12 matches at an average of close to 50.
Batting at number three, he has a lot of responsibilities in the middle. Teams can rely on him in difficult situations. There is a great possibility of multiple franchises wanting him on their side.
Josh Phillipe
The last two seasons of the BBL have been very impressive for Josh Phillipe. He found himself in the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp last year and also went on to make his debut for Australia. Unfortunately, he had to pull out of the second leg of the IPL due to the Covid-19 situation.
This year too, the young wicketkeeper-batter can find himself in one of the IPL teams. His consistency will attract teams to go big in the auctions.
