The Indian T20 League has seen many bizarre buys in the history of the tournament. While there have been many in the past, this time the situation can be different. The franchises need to rebuild their teams and are on a budget. The teams have retained up to four players which leaves them with even less money in their purse. They will be very cautious of who they buy in the mega auction.
Here is a list of players that can go unsold in the ITL mega auction.
Kedar Jadhav
There was a point when Kedhar Jadhav was India's one of the most important players, but now he is nowhere in the picture. That seems to be the case in the ITL too. His last two seasons have not been good at all. He was released by Chennai and roped in by Hyderabad. He was expected to get a few chances to display his talent with the Sunrisers team, but he never grabbed on the opportunity. He scored very few runs in the last two seasons and was barely a prospect to keep in the squad. His base price for 2022 is 1 crore.
Eoin Morgan
England's World Cup-winning captain was supposed to help Kolkata with his captaincy skills. While Kolkata managed to reach the final last year, Morgan was poor with the bat. His base price for 2022 is 1.5 crores and teams might not be interested in him anymore.
Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch is Australia's captain in the white-ball format, and led them to their maiden 20-20 World Cup win, but there is a high possibility he might go unsold this year. Last year too, he was not purchased by any of the teams.
He has not had any impact on the tournament in the seasons that he has played. He last played for Bangalore, where he opened the innings but did next to nothing for the team. His base price for 2022 is 1.5 crores.
Ishant Sharma
The pacer Ishant Sharma has been around the shortest format for a while now but has not been at his best. He is India's one of the most reputed Test bowlers but has not done much in the shortest format of the game.
Ishant has been part of the Delhi squad for a few years now but has warmed the bench more often than not. This year, he was released ahead of the auction and might not get a chance in this season. His base price in 2022 is 1.5 crores.
Nathan Lyon
Nathan Lyon is another player who has become a Test specialist. He has done wonders for Australia in the longest format but does not have the numbers to back him in white-ball cricket. He only has played two games in international T20.
Lyon has never played an ITL game, but he has played in the Big Bash League before. This year too, there is a big possibility of him not getting picked by any of the ten teams in the mega auction. He has a base price of 1.5 crores for 2022.
