The most successful team in the Indian T20 League, Mumbai has struggled to win even a single game in 2021 season. The men in blue and gold have lost eight games in a row this season. They currently lag at the bottom of the points table. Mumbai had a great squad until last season, but they let go of most of their core players ahead of the 2022 season due to the mega auction. Here are the former Mumbai players who are performing well for the other franchises.
Hardik Pandya- Gujarat
Hardik Pandya played for the Mumbai team all of his career until 2021. He always was a great asset to the team, but his last season with them was not the best. The newly formed Gujarat team picked him in the draft as he was released by Mumbai. He was appointed as the team captain. The responsibility of leading the team suited him well. In the six matches so far, Pandya has scored 295 runs at an average of 73.75. He is currently the team's highest run-scorer of the season. He has been decent with the ball as well, picking four wickets at an economy of 7.57.
Quinton de Kock- Lucknow
Quinton de Kock, at the top of the order, was very crucial for Mumbai along with Rohit Sharma when he played for the team. He had many match-winning partnerships with the team skipper. He also allowed Rohit to take his tome upfront. The league debutants, Lucknow, purchased him in the mega auction ahead of the 2022 season. He is one of their top run scorers this season and is going well along with KL Rahul. In the eight matches so far, De Kock has scored 225 runs for the men in turquoise.
Marco Jansen- Hyderabad
The young pacer from South Africa, Marco Jansen, did not get too many chances to represent the Mumbai team in the previous season. He only played two games and picked up two wickets. The Hyderabad team then picked him to be a part of their pace attack for the 15th season. He has played five games in the season, accounting for six scalps. He also has been economical, conceding just 7.15 runs per over.
Krunal Pandya- Lucknow
Krunal Pandya is another player that Mumbai groomed. He produced many match-winning performances for the team, including his performance in the 2017 final against Pune. However, he too had a poor 2021 season which resulted in Mumbai letting him off. The Lucknow team got him in the auction. He has now given the team a genuine all-rounded option. Pandya has scored 112 runs with the bat in addition to the seven wickets he has taken in eight games.
Rahul Chahar- Punjab
Rahul Chahar was Mumbai's primary spinner for a few seasons, bailing the team out of difficult situations. He always gave consistent performances for the team but was let go of ahead of the 2022 season. The Punjab team managed to buy him in the auction, which turned out to be a great decision for them. Chahar has taken 10 wickets for the men in red in his seven appearances so far. He also has been conservative with runs. He has an economy of just 7.32 in the season.
