The Indian T20 league mega auction brought in some major transformations in all the teams and gave the two new teams a chance to build their squad from the scratch. Over 200 players were sold in the auction out of the 600 players that went under the hammer. Multiple teams were interested in the same players, which led to some big bidding wars. Here are the players that grabbed the attention of most teams and forced them to bid for their skills.

R Sai Kishore - 6 teams

Sai Kishore is one of the top spinners in the domestic circuit. He was purchased by Gujarat for INR 3 crores but teams like Rajasthan, Delhi, Chennai, Punjab and Hyderabad also bid for him. A let arm spinner is always on every team's top priority list.

Shreyas Iyer- 5 teams

Delhi, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Gujarat, all tried to get him on their team. Delhi and Bangalore were particularly quick as they wanted him on their side. Iyer has been a great captain and a great player for the Delhi team. He guided them to their first-ever final in the history of the tournament.

After Delhi tried to buy him back and Bangalore tried to get him as their captain, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Gujarat entered the auction. In the end, Kolkata got him for a total of 12.5 crores. He has now been named as their captain for the 2022 season. Kolkata will hope to see him repeat what he did for Delhi.

Washington Sundar- 5 teams

An all-rounder who bowls all four overs of a game, takes wickets, and is a floater with the bat had to command a high price in the auction. Washington Sundar drew the interest of five franchises for the same reason. Gujarat, Punjab, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Lucknow all attempted to get the all-rounder. Sundar has 27 wickets to his name in 42 games. He has not had the finest wicket-taking numbers, but his economy of 6.94 has more than compensated. After a heated bidding war, Hyderabad secured him for Rs. 8.75 crores.

Krunal Pandya- 5 teams

Krunal Pandya is another left-arm all-rounder who drew a lot of interest at the auction. Punjab, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Gujarat were among the five bids for Pandya. He was a devoted Mumbai player who helped them win critical games, notably the 2017 final versus Pune.

Lucknow will now be hoping that he can replicate his performance for the team. They paid 8.5 crores for him.

Josh Hazlewood- 5 teams

Josh Hazlewood is a fairly underappreciated T20 player, so seeing him go for big bids was nice. In the auction, he was targeted by Chennai, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Chennai was keen to repurchase him, and they attempted to do so, but Bangalore outbid them for 7.75 crores.

Hazlewood, together with his Australian teammate Glenn Maxwell, will be an excellent addition to the club. He will also complement Mohammed Siraj's bowling style.

Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar is another player that has grown in stature in recent times. He was at his best in the 2020 season but was a little out of touch in the 2021 season. Mumbai tried to buy him back, but they weren't too interested. He got the bids from Hyderabad, Delhi, Punjab, Mumbai, and Rajasthan. He is only one of the few genuine leg-spinning  options available and has earned a decent sum of 5.25 crores from the Punjab team.
