The Indian T20 League mega auction saw some great and some bizarre bids. The franchises battled hard to get the desired player in their team. Some players put a huge base price for themselves, despite them never playing the tournament before. This could be because the demand for players was much higher than usual. Here are the players who set a base price of 2 crores in the mega auction, despite not featuring in the Indian T20 League before.
Odean Smith
The West Indian all-rounder has impressed everyone with his power-hitting ability in the white-ball format. In the few matches that he has played for the West Indies, he has done well to score runs quickly. Apart from that, he also is a medium-fast bowler and can bowl some handy overs. He has a strike rate of 155 in the 10 T20 matches he has played. The Punjab team got the all-rounder for a price of 6 crores.
Saqib Mahmood
The English paceman has played in many leagues across the globe but has not been very impressive in the international circuit. With the ball, he has picked seven wickets in the 12 games that he has played. He also has been very expensive with an economy of almost 10.5 runs per over. The 24-year old's wait to make his Indian T20 League debut continues as he went unsold in this year's mega auction.
Ashton Agar
The Australian left-arm orthodox spinner, Ashton Agar also registered himself for a huge price of 2 crores. He has played 43 T20 matches for Australia but is still not a regular in the team. He has a total of 46 wickets in the shortest format of the game and was also a part of the World Cup-winning T20 team in 2021. However, the seasoned cricketer went unsold in the mega auction as no team showed any interest in him.
Craig Overton
Another English man on the list is Craig Overton. The fast bowler also set a huge base price of 2 crores in the mega auction. However, he has no experience in the T20 format. He is yet to receive a cap for England in the shortest format. He has played a few Tests and four ODI's. Expectedly, he received no bids and remained unsold in the mega auction.
James Vince
The English batter, James Vince has performed well in the various leagues that he has played across the world. He is one of the few good players that have never played in the Indian T20 League before. In the 17 international T20 matches he has played, Vince has 463 runs at an average of over 27. These figures are not the best, but he is a much better player than the numbers represent. He too was unsold in the ITL mega auction.
