Five reasons why Mumbai can win their sixth Indian T20 League title in 2022

The Mumbai team has been the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian T20 League. Mumbai has won five titles so far. They have had some great players and memories in the tournament. The last season, however, was not a particularly good one for them. This time around, they will have to do a lot better to be able to stand a chance to win the tournament. Here are some of the reasons why Mumbai can win their sixth title in the Indian T20 League 2022.

Home advantage

The only team that has a home advantage this season is Mumbai. All the league matches are being played in Maharashtra, most of which are in Mumbai. The team is very familiar with these conditions. Also, the crowd will be behind them, which gives them a good advantage. The Mumbai pitch has good bounce and carry which will help the team's bowlers.

Core retention

The Mumbai team was able to retain and buy back some of their key players in the mega auction. They retained Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard ahead of the auction. They then re-bought Ishan Kishan for a whopping 15.25 crores in the auction. All these players have been an important part of the winning combination for the Mumbai team in the past.

Powerful middle-order

The major problem for Mumbai last season was their middle-order. They were not playing at the top of their ability, which cost them the season. This time around, their middle-order  looks a lot more settled as players are coming into the tournament with some fine form behind them. The likes of Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Suryakumar Yadav are part of the middle-order and have delivered some decent performances in recent past.

Plenty of depth in the team

The Mumbai team is not as strong as it was in the last few years as they have let go of some of their key players. However, they still have some match winners. They have plenty of all-rounders that add a lot of depth to the team. The likes of Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams can be devastating with the bat, while being very handy with the ball.

Great bowling lineup

Mumbai has some good bowlers up their ranks. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills and Daniel Sams are known to be T20 specialists. Also, someone like Mayank Markande or Jayadev Unadkat can be trump cards for them.
