Since September 24, Deepti Sharma and her running out Charlie Dean have been the talk of the town. The way Sharma dismissed her opponent, was formerly known as Mankading. In recent days, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) renamed Mankading as another mode of run-out. Even though it has been a legal mode of dismissal, its fairness has always been under question.
A lot of England's current and former cricketers criticized Sharma for her act. In reply, a lot of former and current cricketers from India and other cricketers have given it back to the Englishmen. During the 2013 Ashes in England, the home team's lead pacer was batting when he edged the ball towards the first slip. Ashton Agar, who was bowling at that time thought he got his man.
However, in an interesting turn of events, Broad didn't leave the field. Also, the umpires adjudged the delivery as a dead ball. This left the and the right-arm pacer got trolled for this.
2. Sacking Kevin Pietersen after the 2013-14 Ashes
England had a 'Trip To Hell' kind of a series after winning the Ashes at home a few months. During the series, the visiting, England were looking out of sorts across all departments of the game.
However, Kevin Pietersen was one of the highest run-getters for the team during the series. After the team got smacked 5-0, the former skipper was sacked from the team and it turned out to be his last international series for him.
3. Knocked out after the first round in the 2015 ODI World Cup
England had a decent tri-series against Australia and India prior to the World Cup. They reached the final and lost to the Aussies. However, what happened during the World Cup was never thought of by anyone.
Apparently, they lost to Bangladesh and were kicked out of the quarter-final race. They also lost to Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka prior to this. After being knocked out, fans from across the globe trolled the Englishmen.
4. Winning the 2019 ODI World Cup by boundary count
The Three Lions qualified for the final of an ODI World Cup after 1992. The match went down to the wire. However, in the end, it looked like New Zealand will be crowned champions.
This wasn't meant to be as the ball ricocheted Ben Stokes's bat and went for a boundary. It was adjudged as six runs although it was meant to be five runs. Another shocking instance in the game was the boundary count-back rule which eventually crowned England the winners of the World Cup.
5. England cricketers complaining about Deepti Sharma being 'unfair'
Deepti Sharma 'ran-out' Charlie Dean to win the game for India. According to the recent changes in the rule book, this method of dismissal, (formerly known as Mankading) has been officially legalized.
