Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum praised the Kiwis for winning the maiden edition of the World Test Championship against India. Brendon McCullum's comments came as New Zealand outclassed India by eight wickets in the finals of the mega event on Wednesday at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

Senior batsmen Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor played an unbeaten knock-off 52 and 47, respectively. They helped New Zealand chased down the target of 139 to win the inaugural edition of the ICC WTC. Earlier, NZ pacer Tim Southee picked up four wickets as India was bowled out for 170 in the second innings. Brilliant performance by Kiwi bowlers ensured that New Zealand would need to score only 139 runs in 53 overs to win the trophy.

New Zealand likely to tour to Pakistan in September

Kane Williamson-led NZ registered 7 wins and lost 4 matches on their road to the WTC final. The side has only won one win on overseas soil and recorded the rest of the victories at home. On the other hand, the Indian cricket team has won 12 matches and lost 4 fixtures.

Both India and New Zealand have faced each other twice in World Test Championship. The Kiwis won both encounters by comfortable margins. The two sides don't have any bilateral series planned in the next few months. They might now face each other in the T20 World Cup 2021. The Indian cricket team has a rest of few days as the India-England Test series starts on August 4.

Talking about New Zealand's schedule, they have confirmed a historic tour to Pakistan in September. They will play three ODI games and as many T20Is. It is going to be their first tour of the nation since 2003. The forthcoming men's ICC T20 World Cup will take place in India in October -November. The Blackcaps were among the first nine teams to qualify for the mega event based on ICC T20I team rankings. In December, the Bangladesh cricket team will have a second New Zealand tour, according to the FTP. The side will play two Test matches and three T20Is, with the limited-overs leg set to be played next year.
