Former all-rounder feels that umpires won't be needed in the future

Umpires have been an integral part of cricket. At the end, it is their decisions that decide the fate of the match. While there have been some really good umpires who seldom make any errors in their calls, there have been a few occasions where an error from their end has changed the outcome of the game.

During such instances, the fans go on to severely criticize and troll the umpire who makes the blunder. The Indian T20 league has seen several such scenarios. Thus, former Indian all-rounder, Rajat Bhatia drew light on the same. It is to be noted that the 42-year-old has played 95 games in the Indian T20 league.

He has represented teams such as Delhi, Kolkata and Rajasthan. While speaking to Sports Tiger, he felt that umpires won't be needed in the near future. He explained that the technology is advanced enough to manage the show. He also agreed with Harbhajan Singh as the Turbanator had recently criticized the umpiring during a game.

“Yes, I completely agree with Harbhajan’s statement. Even I feel that there will be no need for umpires in a few years from now. This job is going to end. The reason why I am saying this is that if technology is doing all the work, why do we even need umpires? If technology is making every decision, bowlers simply have to bowl and if it’s out, it will be given out and if it’s not out, the decision will be made accordingly, Also, this will save time,” said Rajat Bhatia.

Earlier, the legendary off-spinner wasn't impressed with the umpiring in the game between Rajasthan and Bangalore. He took a direct dig at them. There were several controversial calls such as a no-ball by Akash Deep where his foot seemed to be alright.

“The Indian T20 League should only have skilled umpires. I am not at all happy with umpiring," said Harbhajan Singh while doing commentary. The game between the Sanju Samson-led side and the Faf du Plessis-led side also saw a wide being called of Harshal Patel's bowling despite it seeming absolutely fine.
