Joana Sanz, the estranged wife of former Barcelona defender Dani Alves, has shared a picture of herself kissing a female friend on Instagram, following her request for a divorce from the footballer. Sanz posted a video of herself and friend Sandro Tabares singing and hugging at a party, captioned with: “Happy birthday, I LOVE YOU. Thank you for lifting me off the ground and filling me with vitality again. We keep adding moments. Through thick and thin." Sanz, a Spanish model, is seeking a divorce from Alves after he was arrested on suspicion of rape in January. Alves appeared in court on Monday, April 17, where he insisted the sexual encounter with the alleged rape victim was consensual.

Sanz shared an article from Spanish publication El Mundo about women whose partners have been unfaithful, which features pictures of Sanz and comments on infidelity. The article includes a quote from the author, who writes: “Infidelity should only dwarf the one who lies, but it is difficult to ignore the component of shame felt by those who have been deceived. Is the break up out of self-love or pressure.”

Alves has been in prison since January 20 following the alleged incident, which took place in December 2022. Despite Alves insisting that the encounter was consensual, Sanz is continuing with her divorce proceedings.

Dani Alves files for bail

Meanwhile, the former FC Barcelona player has appealed for bail filing a 200-page report and videos from security cameras. Alves's lawyers think that the video would discredit the testimony of the alleged victim and shed a different light on the whole sexual assault case.

The footballer's lawyers have asked for a provisional release from jail in the new bail proceedings. However, their last request was turned down by the court in February. Since Alves was deemed to be someone with a high chance of leaving the country, this meant the court was unable to grant him bail in February.
