Team India are currently gearing up for the three-match ODI series at home against Sri Lanka. On 7 January 2023, they completed a 2-1 T20I series victory over the Lankas at home. But, in the last match of that series, Suryakumar Yadav made headlines as he scored his third T20I ton. He scored 112* runs off 51 balls, including seven fours and nine sixes.

He won the player of the match award also for that special knock. However, fans compare him with former South African great, AB de Villiers for his 360-degree shots all around the park. Now, regarding that debate, the former India cricketer, Ajay Jadeja opened up in a chat on Cricbuzz after that third T20I.

“Both sides his wrists work better than AB also" - Ajay Jadeja on the comparison between Suryakumar Yadav and AB de Villiers

During that chat, Ajay Jadeja said that Suryakumar Yadav is more consistent than AB de Villiers. He said: "With AB de Villiers we saw, I mean he was one of the finest we have seen, no doubt. His (Suryakumar Yadav) consistency is a little bit more and I think what he adds with AB is that there's a little more power to his game."

He also said that Surya adds the wrist work that de Villiers did not have during his playing days. “What he adds is the wrist work which AB didn't have. So the angles you were talking about, they were because of the wrists. both sides his wrists work better than AB also," Jadeja added.

Speaking about Suryakumar Yadav, it was his third T20I ton in just 43 innings. He has scored 1578 runs in an average of 46.41. But, his overall strike is 180.34. In this recent series, he scored 170 runs in three innings, averaging 85. After that blistering knock, he became the fifth batter to register three or more tons in men’s T20Is after Rohit Sharma (4), Glenn Maxwell (3), Colin Munro (3), and Sabawoon Davizi (3). Now, he will be in action again in the upcoming ODI series, starting on 10 January 2023.
