Indian cricketing corridors are filled up with many debates and discussions since the selectors announced the squad of the men’s team for the upcoming Asian Games 2023. Notably, a second-string side will be appearing in the Asian Games 2023 to represent India in Hangzhou, China. The side will be led by the young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Meanwhile, the inclusion of star Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh in the Asian Games squad is drawing a lot of contrasting reactions and responses from the game's experts. They are pretty surprised by management’s decision to exclude Arshdeep Singh from the World Cup plans by not considering him for the ODIs.
In the same line of events, the former Indian opener and currently the commentator, Aakash Chopra expressed his dismay over Arshdeep’s selection in the Asian Games squad. He also questioned the young pacer’s exclusion from the World Cup 2023 and the ODI scheme of India.
"I am surprised Arshdeep Singh's name is on this team. I am surprised because they are not considering him for ODIs at all. You didn't consider him for the ODIs as well in the West Indies," said Aakash Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.
"Now you are not considering him for the Asia Cup and are already keeping him out of the World Cup list. What has happened? When I see Arshdeep Singh, it seems like there is a huge upside, he is a player for the long haul and can play all three formats, at least both white-ball formats, but they have not kept him currently," he added later.
