The cash-rich Indian Premier League has made it to the center of the cricketing world in the last 15 years since its inception. It has changed the lives of the cricketers who were looking for a chance to express themselves in front of the cricketing world. Meanwhile, this decorated and glamorous cricket league has also faced flak from some of the former cricketers.

A few former cricketing legends had been of the opinion for IPL that it is ruining the real texture and intensity of cricket.

But in a surprise, the former legendary West Indies skipper Clive Lloyd has staunchly advocated in the favour of Indian Premier League. He also talked about the fact that West Indies had lost some big names from the national side due to the increasing T20 leagues, especially the IPL.

"I think we went to Kerry Packer because we did not know our worth. These guys now know what they are worth. But I think that if IPL is such an important part of their lives, just give them a window so that they can play IPL,” said Lloyd to RevSportz.

Here's what Clive Lloyd said further on Indian Premier League

"Yes, a window would be excellent, I think, because they are earning a good living. And do not forget, you are giving your best part, the best days of your life to this sport. So why not be paid for it?” he added later.

Later on, the two-time World Cup champion skipper also talked about the concern of star players being available for the national side. He stressed the fact that there must be some point when the nation should be a priority for a player.

"You cannot stop them from doing that. It gives them a good future. But the point is that they should not do this to the detriment of playing for their country or their nation. And we suffer because we are only five and a half million people. So, if we groom twenty players and lose ten, it is like digging a hole to fill a hole. And I do not want that,” stated the 78-year-old.
