After a lot of confusion and discussion among cricket fans and the experts of the game, India head coach Rahul Dravid has finally revealed the reason behind team management’s decision to rest Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the first two ODIs in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.
However, skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper, Virat Kohli will be there in the squad for the third and last ODI of the series against the Aussies. Star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, who recently made his India comeback in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023, will be leading the men in blue in the first and second ODI and regular skipper Rohit Sharma will be leading Team India again in the third ODI of the series against Australia.

Meanwhile, head coach Rahul Dravid briefly spoke about Team India’s strategies and preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in their own backyard.
"The team wants Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fresh both physically and mentally for the World Cup hence they were rested for the first two ODIs,” said Rahul Dravid ahead of the ODI series opener against Australia.
Furthermore, Dravid also backed the out-of-form Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav; Dravid felt that the World No. T20I batter will surely turn around the things in the 50-over format very soon.
"We completely back Suryakumar Yadav, we believe he will turn it around in ODI, will be getting an opportunity in the first 2 ODIs,” said Dravid.
"The experience of Ashwin is good for us; he can contribute with the bat at 8, and he was always in plans if there was an injury issue,” Dravid concluded.
