Former India skipper MS Dhoni has once again hinted at his retirement from IPL cricket after the ongoing season. Ahead of the season, a Chennai Super Kings official had hinted at Dhoni's retirement after the ongoing season. Currently, the latter is leading the side at the age of 41. There is a high chance that he might have considered retirement after the ongoing 16th season.

Meanwhile, for the second time in the IPL 2023, the Ranchi-born player has hinted at his retirement. Not to forget, he is only playing in the cash-rich league since his retirement from international cricket in 2020. The first time Dhoni hinted at his retirement was after the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad last week.

“All said and done, it’s the last phase of my career, however long I play . After two years, the fans have had the opportunity to come here and watch, feels good to be here. Crowd has given us a lot of love and affection. Not getting enough chances to bat, but no complaints,” the former India skipper after the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kolkata crowd came to give me a farewell: MS Dhoni

Meanwhile, after Dhoni's team smashed Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs, the CSK skipper spoke about his possible retirement again. He said that the Kolkata crowd arrived at the Eden Gardens to give him a farewell.

“Thanks for the support and they came in big numbers. Whenever there’s a next KKR game, they will come supporting them.

“thanks alot to the Eden Gardens crowd. They came to give me a farewell,” Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.

At this point, there is no confirmation on the matter. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar rubbished Dhoni's retirement talk ahead of the season.

“No one has said that this would be his final year. At least, he hasn't. Hopefully, he will play more. We don't know any such thing, we want him to play as much as he can,” Chahar told News India Sports.

“He knows when to retire, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it's a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him. He's in good touch as well, you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year,” Chahar further said.
