CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has started the development for the upcoming Witcher game, codename Polaris. The project is in full swing along with Cyberpunk 2077 sequel which is still in a conceptual phase.
Adam Badowski, in a statement, said, “We'd like to have around 400 people working on Polaris by the middle of the year.” Badowski recently became the joint CEO of CDPR along with Michal Nowakowski.
It seems like the work on the next Witcher games is currently the main priority. After all, the former CEO, Adam Kiciński, said that they want to release three big Witcher games within six years.
Badowski also delved into the matter of AI, saying that the studio is considering taking the help of the tech. He clarified this is not to replace people, but rather to help them improve certain processes during the game production.
Cyberpunk sequel to feature multiplayer?
Cyberpunk 2077 did not have the best launch. It was so bad that PlayStation removed it from their store, only to launch the Last of Us PC port in the same condition. However, the game saw a facelift and with the recent DLC, won a majority of fans back.
The sequel for the game is currently in a very early phase. Adam Badowski, in an interview with Reuters, revealed that there were talks of adding multiplayer elements. Now, one knows how a Cyberpunk multiplayer game will work out.
Will it be a co-op multiplayer experience, will there be a PvP arena or GTA-type RP with custom characters? No one knows, as it is still a concept and might not make it to the real game. Badowski also refused to provide more details on the concept.
The interview further increases the possibility of multiplayer. Playing cyberpunk, one can clearly see that the developers intended to do a lot more than they could.
