Gill, Rahul, and Pant are all prepared to be a part of the Indian team's playing eleven for the 2nd Test in Melbourne. Pacer Mohammed Siraj is also in the ruckus for his Test debut. He might come in as a replacement to now ruled-out Mohammed Shami.

The visitors have suffered two significant collapses in Adelaide right after the dismissal of skipper Virat Kohli. Captain Kohli is all set to leave Australia, and after his departure, the Indian team will have to make changes. Apart from his replacement, the management will also make a couple of additional substitutions.

As per the reports, Rahul is going to replace Kohli in the middle-order. Rahul's batting position is not decided yet, but the management can plan to shift Rahane up the order. Regarding Shami's replacement, the Indian side has a couple of options in the squad. Saini and Siraj can be the possible replacement for Shami.

Saini's blunt performances in the warmup can make way for Siraj in Melbourne. Siraj has taken five wickets in the two tour games. Overall, the pacer has grabbed 152 wickets in 38 matches at an average of 23.44.

Shaw and Saha not a part of the squad for 2nd Test

Both Shaw and Saha had a poor outing in the first Test match. Shaw found his technique exposed to the pace attack and Saha failed to grab his opportunities. He played low shots at crucial moments in the game.

Shaw was favored above Gill despite his poor showing in the warmups. He was the Indian team steams opener in New Zealand in January. The management wanted him to give the youngster a chance in one more Test match.

Both Gill and Pant will replace Shaw and Saha in the line-up. Gill also has a fine average of 68. The youngster also scored 43 and 65 respectively in the practice games. Earlier, Gill was decided as a number six batsman or Kohli's replacement, but now he is going to open the innings.

On the other hand, Pant plays the second Test with a majestic 73-ball hundred against Australia' Australia' A'' to back him. The 23-year-old is also one of the two Indian players who scored a hundred while averaging above 50 in Australia in 2018.

Gill, Rahul, and Pants addition can help team India to overcome the mistakes of the first Test. At the same time, Siraj will get an excellent opportunity to shrug off his poor performances in international cricket.
