The 34th game of the Indian T20 League 2022 between Delhi and Rajasthan was a final-over thriller. Delhi needed 36 runs in the last over with Rovman Powell on strike. He hit the first two balls for a six, and followed it with another six on a full toss on the next delivery. However, the Delhi team complained that the third ball was a waist-high no-ball.

The on-field umpires were not of the same opinion and refused to check the call with the third umpire. This gave rise to a big controversy as Delhi's captain, Rishabh Pant wanted the players to come back to the dugout. Many experts and players highlighted the poor umpiring standards in the Indian T20 League. Glenn Maxwell and Irfan Pathan also expressed their opinions.

Irfan Pathan made it very clear that the delivery was a no-ball. "That was a clear no ball," he tweeted.  Glenn Maxwell also was unhappy with the decision. "So umpires check no balls for front foot every ball, but can’t check a high full toss? Makes sense…" he said.

Coming back to the match, Jos Buttler's third century in the season helped the men in pink set a mammoth target of 223 runs. Devdutt Padikkal scored a half-century and Sanju Samson played a 46-run cameo in the innings. In the chase, Delhi kept on losing wickets but maintained a high scoring rate. In the end, the target proved too much for the Delhi team. Notably, the equation was 36 off two overs but Prasidh Krishna bowled a wicket-maiden 19th over. Rajasthan registered their fifth win of the season and moved to the top of the table. Delhi, on the other hand, stands sixth with three wins in seven games.
