Former England player Graeme Swann praised Glenn Maxwell for his terrific start to the 14th edition of the IPL 2021. The veteran stated that Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers' presence in the RCB batting line-up had taken the pressure off the Australian. After being released by KL Rahul's Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2022 mini-auction, Maxwell was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a whopping amount of Rs 14.25 crore. Punjab Kings had acquired his services for Rs 10.74 crore. The 32-year-old batsman had faced a lot of criticism last year after scoring just 108 runs in 13 games. However, this season he appears to be in great form for RCB in IPL 2021.

Notably, the hard-hitting Australian all-rounder managed to score only 108 runs in 13 games for Punjab Kings last year. The 32-year-old could not even hit a single six in the 13th edition, which was played in the UAE. Maxwell twitched off his lousy form soon after the conclusion of IPL 2020. The Australian batsman put up an outstanding show against India in white-ball matches. In the three ODI series, he slammed 167 runs at an average of 83.50 and a strike rate of 194.18.

Glenn Maxwell should focus on playing his natural game: Graeme Swann

Glenn Maxwell has proved his critics wrong the ongoing IPL season. The 32-year-old has played knocks of 39, 56, and 78 in RCB's first three matches. Speaking on Star Sports, Graeme Swann praised Maxwell for his terrific form. He further added that Maxwell should focus on playing his natural game. Glenn Maxwell's latest match-winning inning came against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chennai. The batsman smashed 78 runs off just 49 balls, including nine boundaries and three maximums. This was Maxwell's second successive fifty for RCB in the ongoing season.

His exploits helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a massive score of 204 runs. His brilliant knock also enabled him to secure the second position on the list of highest run-scorers after three games. The Australian batsman is just ten runs behind Orange Cap holder Shikhar Dhawan (186 runs). Royal Challengers Bangalore has so far won all the three matches they played in IPL 2021. The Bangalore-based franchise currently holds the top spot in the points table with 6 points.
