Glenn Maxwell has seen a change in fortune since joining RCB in IPL 2021. Maxwell was previously part of the Punjab franchise in IPL 2020. The Australian had a season to forget in the IPL last year. In IPL 2020, Maxwell played 13 matches, managing to score only 108 runs in total. However, Maxwell has completely revived after he left Punjab to join RCB this season. In 3 games in IPL 2021, Maxwell has already amassed 176 runs, more than he managed in the entire IPL season last year. Maxwell has also won the Man of the Match award for his performance against SRH in IPL 2021. The Australian all-rounder has credited his success with RCB to the RCB coaching staff and his teammates. Maxwell stated that both the coaching staff and his teammates have been very supportive of him.

RCB, who played all their IPL 2021 games in Chennai so far, will play their next match at the Wankhede. The Bengaluru franchise will lock horns with RR today. Even though RR has more experience playing at the Wankhede, RCB is expected to win today. With a win, RCB could once again go at the top of the IPL 2021 points table. Meanwhile, RR is in desperate need of a victory, managing to win only 1 out of 3 matches in IPL 2021 so far.

I try my best to relieve pressure off Virat Kohli - Glenn Maxwell

Since Maxwell’s arrival, Virat Kohli has been relieved of some captaincy responsibilities. Maxwell is a senior player on the RCB side and assists Kohli in setting the fielders. Furthermore, the pressure on Kohli to deliver with the bat has also reduced with the arrival of Glenn Maxwell. Victory against RR would make RCB the strongest contender to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs. However, RCB and RR have quite a cut-throat head-to-head record. RR and RCB have locked horns on 23 occasions in the IPL to date. Each side has managed to win 10 games against the other. On 3 occasions, the matches have yielded no result. Glenn Maxwell has been in blistering form in IPL 2021 so far. Maxwell has won the IPL with MI back in 2013. With RCB in blistering form, we could see Maxwell clinch his 2nd IPL trophy this year.
