Australia limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch announced his retirement from ODI cricket early in the day. He cited his poor form with the bat this year for such as decision. This year, the right-hander has played 13 games and has scored 169 runs. Finch's agony increased in the recent series against Zimbabwe as he got out of Richard Ngarwa in the entire series.
In the ongoing series against New Zealand, he has only been able to score five runs in two games. While announcing his retirement, the two-time World Cup winner said that he had an incredible over the years and was fortunate to be part of the team. He added that it is the right time to give the new leader some considerable time to prepare the team for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
